Woodworm Treatment
Service description

Suspect you may have a woodworm problem in your property and would like some professional, trusted and reliable advice – well we can help! You may not notice that you have a woodworm problem until any damage becomes visible.

Signs of active woodworm:

• Frass (a dust like substance that is left behind by the woordworm) around emergence holes
• Clean exit holes (these will look like freshly drilled holes which are light in colour and have sharp edges)
• Is there any crumbling timber?
• Sightings of beetles?

Dry and Wet Rot Treatment
Service description

We also offer specialist Dry Rot and Wet Rot treatment and eradication. There have been many cases where these two diseases have been wrongly diagnosed, so making sure we are treating the right disease is very important as they are treated very differently.

Dry Rot Signs:

• Can be mistaken for Wet Rot
• Dry Rot is the most serious form of fungal decay known as ‘Serpula Lacrymans’
• Occurs when wood becomes too wet with moisture – with content over 20%
• Dry Rot is very destructive and can spread across masonry and timber
• If left untreated fungus can weaken structural integrity and can cause buildings to collapse

Wet Rot Signs:

• Easily mistaken for Dry Rot
• Natural decay of timber due to high moisture levels (with moisture content of around 30-50%)
• Caused by fungus that is attracted to very damp wood and feeds off the timber
• Localised damp and does not spread (making it less destructive)
• If left untreated can lead to serious weakness of structural timbers and can cause major structural damage
