A cavity wall is a masonry structure made up of two separate walls (often referred to as leaves) that run parallel to each other. The two leaves of stone or brickwork are held together by metal straps (wall ties) the cavities between the two leaves provide a layer of insulation which helps provide a barrier for potential water penetration.
